Introduction: A Box Full of Stars

The Story

Back in the day I purchased a cheap plastic ring at a flea market - a "thinking of you" gesture for this girl I was interested in. I know what you are thinking - how unfortunate, but I digress. I always went HAM on these arts and crafts projects that I came across and so what better way to give a gift than by wrapping it like no other.

The idea is that your special someone is holding the night sky and that they are your North Star. That no matter where you are or what you are doing, you will never be lost.

In Hindsight

Giving a ring by itself would have been sufficient.

The Instructable

Without further ado, I present to you "A Box Full of Stars." Please note that the role of the ring is taken by the understudy, a quarter.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Materials (All purchased from Michaels)

  1. Black paper
  2. Foam
  3. Memory Box (in the image above, the box is open)
  4. White Star Foam Stickers
  5. Gold Star Foam Stickers

Tools

  1. Hot Glue Gun
  2. Utility Knife (not pictured)

Step 2: The Ring Holder

For this step, you will need:

  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Black Paper
  • Quarter
  • Utility Knife
  • Foam
  1. Cut down the foam to be a little larger than the quarter.
  2. Take the black paper and wrap the piece of foam. You can use tape to hold things down, but used a hot glue gun because I did not have tape.
  3. Using the utility knife, poke a slice into the top part of the foam. Then use the quarter to fit check it in.

Step 3: Gold Star Placement

In this step, you will need:

  • Gold Star Foam Stickers
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Ring Holder
  1. Place the Ring Holder in the top right corner.
  2. Before sticking the Gold Stars, place them down in the form of the Big Dipper.
  3. Then stick them onto the box.

Step 4: White Star Placement

In this step, you will need:

  • White Star Foam Stickers
  1. You can go ahead and stick them onto box without having to preset them like the Gold Stars.
  2. Be mindful of how many you have. In this case, I had 31 white stars.

Step 5: Enjoy!

I remember having a blast putting this together the first time. This one came out even more awesome!
