Stupid looking sweaters can be ugly, but mostly they are stupid looking. To be truly ugly, a sweater must not simply look ugly. It must appear to have been a mistake--an effort to make a good sweater which fell very wide of the mark. It must require a second look. Observers should be willing to bet that the wearer was blind, was single and had no friends. This entry wins on all levels.
