Introduction: A Great Short Story!

Hi, friends! I welcome you to another New Year with another guide from me! I have recently gotten myself caught up in the world of literature, and I want to introduce it to you, too! So, what are you waiting for? Let's get started!

Step 1: WHAT YOU NEED

Step 2: YOUR IMAGINATION

As everyone knows, stories start off with "once upon a time..."

It's not a bad way to start, and it can be used as an interesting "hook" for your audiences, but...

Let's hold off on that for awhile. Let's start with thinking of what you want to write about:

Fantasy, Mystery, Science Fiction, Non-fiction, Historic Fiction, Romance, etc.

Pick one, and start letting YOUR IMAGINATION flow.

Step 3: PLOT DIAGRAM

Usually the Plot Diagram is displayed as a roller coaster or something like a triangle. There is the exposition, the conflict, the rising action, the climax, the falling action, and the resolution.

It's easier to start brainstorming from the climax or the resolution, so you can work backwards. You should fill in the conflict first (which would be the drive the main character is feeling to create the story).

There are four types of conflict:

> The most common: Character vs. Character (Protagonist vs. Antagonist)

> The only internal conflict: Character vs. Self

> The last two: Character vs. Nature

> Character vs. Society

Step 4: START WRITING!

After doing all that work, you can finally get down to writing!

Here's the thing: everybody writes uniquely. There are many perspectives you can write from: 1st PoV, and 3rd PoV.

There are 3 types of third perspective.

>Objective: Where the narrator doesn't know a single thought from any character. It's like they see it from their own eyes.

>Omniscient: Where the narrator knows what everyone is thinking.

>Limited: Where the narrator can hear only one person's (main character) thoughts.

Get writing now!

Usually the first one you write, or type up, would be your draft. You can get a friend to review it and give you opinions on it to brush it up.
