Introduction: A Tribal Mask
I tried to attempt a traditional tribal mask.
Step 1: Creating a Newspaper Base
1.Take a newspaper and fold it into the shape of a mask.
2.Place the folded newspaper on a table to keep it steady.
3.Use masking tape to secure the newspaper to the table, ensuring it doesn’t move while you work on it.
Step 2: Spreading the Caly
1.Place a thin cloth over the folded newspaper to prevent the clay from sticking.
2.Take paper clay and spread it evenly across the surface of the cloth-covered newspaper. Ensure the layer is smooth and consistent.
Step 3: Adding Features to It
1.Carefully cut out holes for the eyes and mouth from the clay-covered mask.
2.Shape and attach ears to the sides of the mask, using additional paper clay if needed.
3.Make any final adjustments or corrections to the mask shape and details to achieve your desired look.
Step 4: Adding Primer
Once the clay is dry and the mask is shaped as desired, apply a layer of primer to the entire surface. This will create a smooth base and prepare it for painting.
Step 5: Painting
After the primer has dried, apply black paint evenly across the entire mask. Make sure to cover all areas for a uniform look.
Step 6: Ready
Use white paint to add any desired details, patterns, or highlights to bring out the mask's features.
And… ta-da! Your mask is ready!
