I have had a few chain necklaces over the years that have been broken through one reason or another (very few!), usually I would end up using the smaller pieces of chain in other jewellery projects, but this time the chain snapped almost exactly in half, so I have decided to try and keep the length of the chain as a necklace, and patch of the gap using a bead and some wire.

Step 1: You Will Need:

1. Your broken chain
2. A bead of any sort with a hole running through it (I have used a 6mm spherical blue acrylic evil eye bead)
3. Wire, preferably matching the colour of your chain
4. Jewellery pliers
5. Wire cutters

Step 2: Preparing the Bead

Next we will prepare the bead and wire. Slide a bead onto your wire. Make a loop in the end of the wire, and close it. Slide the bead up close to the closed loop. Cut your wire oh the other side of the bead, leaving enough wire to make another closed loop on the other side of the bead. Make another loop on the other side of the bead.

Step 3: Attaching the Bead to the Chain

Open your loops, and link them into ends of the chain.

Step 4: Finished!

That's it, you are all done.

My chain was snapped pretty much in half, but even if the chain has broken in a different place, it could still be cool to fix it up like this. I think the asymmetric look would look great too.

Any kind of brightly coloured bead would look great I think, but you could also use a gold/silver charm on a jump ring to attach the two ends of the chain together.
