Introduction: Adult Jello.

About: computoman.blogspot.com Bytesize articles instead of a trilogy in one post.
We love jello, but wish there was something between the kid stuff and Panna cotta. (Heavy cream is extremely expensive now.) So we came up with a medium ground that keeps every one happy.

Step 1: What's Needed:

Ingredients:

1 quart whole milk. (evaporated milk can be substituted).
1/2 cup sugar (brown sugar gives a different taste).
2 1/4 teaspoons unflavored gelatine. (Most grocery stores carry it, but sometimes try to hide it)
3 teaspoons warm water to bloom gelatine.
Vanilla extract (to taste) (equivalent of 1/2 half vanilla bean)
Berries and or raisins for serving. We like to use apple sauce.

Tools:
Stove
2 quart saucepan
Teaspoon
Heatproof stirring spoon.
Small bowl to bloom gelatine.
Heatproof bowl large enough to hold jello mixture. (sometimes I just put the saucepan in the fridge to save washing items.)
Refrigerator
Optional: Instant thermometer

Step 2: Mix It Up.

Add the milk and sugar in the saucepan. (stir well).
Heat with medium heat to just a simmer. (Somewhere near or below 180 degrees Fahrenheit) (Watch carefully! )
Turn off heat, cover it, and then let cool for 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 3: Making the Cement.

Bloom the gelatine with the water. let sit till fully dissolved.
Reheat the mixture to a simmer. (Watch carefully! )
Remote it from the heat.
Add the gelatine mixture.
Add the Vanilla extract.
Stir well.
Pour into heat proof bowl and refrigerate covered. (or just put the saucepan in the fridge.)
Let chill overnight. It will firm up. Do not be concerned if it does not firm up after several hours. That is why it is good to do overnight.

Note You could use ramekins, instead of a large bowl.

Step 4: Serving.

Using a spoon, serve out the appropriate amounts of adult jello and add fruit to top the portion..
EAT!

Note: adding a bit of honey would make it even more special!
