Introduction: Advent Wreath From Firewood

I thought it would be a great idea to make a platter for holding Advent-Stuff and an Advent Wreath this year.

Step 1: Sand

The piece of choice was a disk from European Oak which has to be sanded.

Step 2: Dish Out the Bowl(ish) Part

Using an angle-grinder I dished out a part of the platter.

Step 3: Clean the Edges

In order to keep the natural edge, I used a round brush in my cordless drill to clean the edge from the soft, almost rotten wood. All bark has been removed by that time.

Step 4: Make the Wreath From a Branch of Birch

I found this split in half branch of Birch in the firewood.

Planing it smooth and drilling some holes makes it into a perfect base for my wreath.

Turning 3 feet and gluing them underneath finished this process. (3 feet keep the thingy from rocking on an uneven surface or after it warped from drying)

Step 5: Finishing the Platter

I added three feet under the platter which has been sanded to 240 grid.

Applying the finish of your choice ends up this step.

Step 6: Decorating

Decorating the Birch beam with some LED Teelight Candles and some turned Snowmen ended up by gluing a couple of Yew 'leaves' to the branch.

Now the Christmas Wreath is finished and you can enjoy the Advent time.
