Air Compression Cannon ~ I Made It at Techshop

Introduction: Air Compression Cannon ~ I Made It at Techshop

About: The best way to have fun is to make it

Techshop.ws.

Step 1: Materials

-1-3 feet of 4 in. pvc (this picture uses 3 feet)
-2 feet of 2 in. Pvc
-a 2 in. valve ~ electrical or manual
-an air compressor or bicycle pump/ adapters
-4 in. to 2 in. coupling
-2 in. to 1/2 in. Coupling

-ALL PIPING IS SCH 40
-THIS IS NOT A TOY
-USE PVC GLUE AND CEMENT GENEROUSLY TO EACH CONNECTION

Step 2: BE SAFE

-DO NOT FILL ABOVE THE PSI RATING FOR THE VALVE! THE PVC RATING DOES NOT MATTER AS LONG AS IT IS HIGHER THAN YOUR VALVE!
- This is potentially dangerous ~ however, after the build is complete, this is a ton of fun

(I am not responsible for any injuries or damage that might be caused by this product)

Step 3: Projectiles

Since this is a pretty basic project, you can really launch anything that you want. My personal favorite is rockets because if they fit snugly and have a good weight distribution (and do not explode) you can launch them easily out of sight. Water is very cool too though.

He could have been using a low or non pressure rated pipe which would result in explosion. However, the schedule 40 pressure rated piping that I used is rated for 240 PSI which is far higher than what I am filling it up to.

Danger: See link: This is not spam, but a warning. PVC will fail suddenly after a while. This was band member that hurt badly by a T-Shirt launcher explosion.

See the pictures and never use PVC to hold air, Please.
