Introduction: Alarm Key Stand : AKS

You have experienced to go out without your bicycle key or other room keys, haven't you?

I often have did that so far. I never want to forget them. So I made "AKS".

If I go out without keys and or my wallet, "AKS" tell me not to forget them.

Step 1: Learn "AKS" System

1. key switch system.

A key is hanged on hooks, key switch SHORTS.

A key is NOT hanged on hooks, key switch OPENS.

2. box switch system

There is something in the box, the box switch SHORTS.

There is NOTHING in the box, the box switch OPENS.

3. door switch system

Door closes, door switch SHORTS.

Door opens, door switch OPENS.

Step 2: Material & Tool

MATERIALS

  • Key ×2
  • Cork board with frame ×2
  • Buzzer ×1
  • Key Hook ×4
  • Resistor ×1
  • Transistor ×1
  • Ring hook ×6
  • Enameled Wire
  • AA Battery ×2
  • Battery box ×1
  • Ring ×2
  • Wood box ×1
  • Aluminum foil
  • Screw ×2
  • Circuit board 1

Tool

  • Nipper
  • Bond
  • Drill
  • Driver
  • Glue gun
  • Gummed tape
  • Cellophane tape
  • Soldering iron
  • Scissor
  • Sand paper

Step 3: Separate Cork Borad

Separate cork board from a wood frame. In my case, I reused this cork board in a later step. Paste the separated wood frame on another wood frame on the back side.

Step 4: Attach Key Hooks

Attach two hooks on the front side. The two hooks must be adjacent but don't contact each other. If they contact, the key-switch don't work well. Attach two ring hooks at the top of the wood frame (red circles).

In the last step, thread the rope on them in order to hang “AKS ” on the wall.

Step 5: Attach Ring Hooks

Attach two ring hooks at the top of the wood frame.Attach another ring hooks to the frame and the box (red circles). In the later step, thread the rope on them in order to reinforce.

Step 6: Drill

Drill the wood box and the frame at the same points. These holes will be screw holes to attach the wood box to the frame in a later step.

Step 7: The Electric Sircuit

According to my circuit diagram, create the circuit. In my case, as I used enameled wires, I cut it to the proper length using a nipper and removed its insulating coating using sandpapers. Solder each electrode of the battery box to each the enameled wire. Wrap electrical tapes for insulation. Set a transistor, a resistor and a buzzer on the circuit board. Then, connect them except for the door switch, the key switch and the box switch according to our circuit diagram.

Connect long wires to point ① on the circuit for connecting the door switch. Also, connect wires to point ② on the circuit for connecting the key and the box switch.

Step 8: Key-switch

Solder two pairs of hooks in back side of the cork board and enameled wires in parallel. Solder this to the wire from point ② on the circuit.

Step 9: Box-switch 1st Idea : Using Spring (Failure)

Cut the separated cork board on the size of a bottom of the wood box.

I attached 4 springs on the bottom of wood box. However, the power of springs was too strong to down. So the cork board and the bottom of a wood box couldn’t touch each other. Therefore, we had to think other idea to make the switch.

Step 10: 2nd Idea : Using Magnet (SUCCESS!!!!!)

I came up with the repulsive force of magnetic.

power could be used to make the switch. Do like the following how to make it.

Attach two magnets the bottom of a wood box and the cut cork board in back side. Be careful to set two magnets as shown in the figure. When nothing is put on the cork board, it floats. In contrast, when something is put on it, it downs. In the one side of the cut cork board, attach the stick made of the pieces of the cork board to take the position of to float and down. Solder the aluminum foil and an enameled wire. Wrap a magnet in the aluminum oil. Make the same again. Paste the magnets wrapped in aluminum foils on the bottom of the wood box and the back side of the separated cork board.

※The magnet’s positions are very important. If these positions are not corresponding, the corkboard does float well.

The box switch was soldered to the key switch in parallel.

Step 11: Attach to Cork Board

Paste the circuit, a buzzer and a battery box to the cork board on the back side. Attach the wood box to the frame by screws.

Step 12: Door-switch

Fold each aluminum foil into a quadrangle. Solder each long wire from the point ① on the circuit to one side. Attach these aluminum foils to the door frame. Attach another aluminum foil folded into quadrangle to the door. This aluminum foil conducts two aluminum foils on the door frame when the door closes.

Step 13: Finish

Thread the reinforced rope and hanging rope on ring hooks. Hang “AKS“ on the wall.

It is finished!!!
