Introduction: All in 1 Simple Filter and Water Heater for Your Fish Tank

About: I love to make things, that could go from workshop to electronics, a bit of everithing, i get boored easily so I like to try new things.

Sometimes, if you have a small tank, being able to filter it and keeping the right temperature can be really space consuming.

To avoid this, there are some filters and heaters that could do the job outside the tank, but they are really expensive…

Actually it is really simple to make one.

Supplies

Backpack filter

Compact water heater

Synthetic filter wool

Step 1: How to Doit

The only trick is to make sure that the heater fits inside the filter sponge area.

So basically the steps are simple:

1. Remove the sponge on the filter and place the heater.

2. Fill the remaining space with synthetic filter wool.

3. Cut a small notch in the cover to allow the heater cable out of the filter.

It’s really simple and effective.

One important consideration: This filter will be good as a particle filter but due to the heater being beside the filter wool, the good bacteria won’t be able to grow there, so make sure that your tank is well cycled and you have enough bacterial growth on the bottom.

Enjoy!!
