Introduction: Almond Kringle

This is a nice light sweet bread that works great with many different kinds of filling.

I got this recipe from:

Hope you enjoy!

Step 1: Ingredients

  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm (105°-115°F)water
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 can almond filling or about 13 oz of a filling of your choice

Step 2: Proof Yeast

Put the water, yeast, and a pinch of sugar in a bowl.

Cover it and let the mixture sit for 10 minutes.

If your yeast doesn't foam or bubble after ten minutes it is dead and you need to get different yeast.

Step 3: Make Dough

Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a big bowl.

Add the melted butter and mix it till it looks like crumbs.

Pour your milk in and add the eggs.

Beat till well combined.

Put the yeast in and stir untill the yeast mixture is just mixed in.

Step 4: Refrigerate

Cover your bowl with plastic wrap and foil.

Refrigerator 4 hours to overnight.

Step 5: Shape Kringles

Take your dough and put it on a lightly floured surface.

Knead some flour in to it until it is not very sticky.

Divide your dough in half.

Take on half and roll it out into a 12 in by 18 in rectangle.

Put a 3 in strip of filling down the middle.

Fold over the sides.

Fold it into a rope and shape the dough into a horseshoe.

Put it on a greased baking sheet.

Repeat with the other half.

Step 6: Rise

Spray your kringle with cooking spray.

Cover it with a towel.

Let it rise for 30 minutes.

Step 7: Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Take off the towel.

Bake for 20-25 minutes till it is golden brown.

Step 8: Done

Frost your almond kringle with your choice of glaze and top with slivered almonds or maraschino Cherries.

I put pink frosting and candied almonds on mine.
