Introduction: Amigurumi: Voodoo Doll (Pin Cushion)

Make your own Amigurumi Voodoo Doll and use it as a pin cushion, or in your next ritual to bring misery to your mortal enemy. This is my own, original crochet pattern, and is suitable for beginner crocheters. I have included a photo for each round in the pattern, so you should find it very easy to follow, but if you have any questions, feel free to let me know in the comments section.

If you do not know how to make an adjustable Magic Ring, then click on the text link to learn how. You will need to make one for this instructable, but don't worry because they are super easy to make!

Lets continue on shall we?

Step 1: Tools & Materials

50g (Medium Weight #4) Yarn, off-white (there will be some left over)
Small amount Red & black yarn
100% Polyester Fiber fill

Crochet Hook Size H (5mm) for main body, limbs and head
Crochet Hook Size E (3.5mm) for heart

2 small buttons for eyes
Safety Pin (for marking rounds)
Yarn needle
Scissors

Step 2: Voodoo Doll: Legs

Use an "H" (5mm) Crochet Hook.

Pattern - Legs (Make 2):

SC 8 in a Magic Ring

Round 1: SC INC around (16 total)
Round 2-4: SC around (16 each round)
Round 5: SC 2, DEC around, repeat (12 remain)
Round 6-7: SC around (12 each round)
Round 8: SC 2, DEC around, repeat (9 remain)
Round 9-16: SC around, FO (9 each round)

Stuff Legs: Evenly fill legs with polyester fiber (do not overstuff).

Sew Yarn Ends: Using a yarn needle, weave in (hide) yarn ends.

Sew Legs Together: Thread needle with yarn and sew together legs (see photo 6 for reference), finish off yarn end.


Step 3: Voodoo Doll: Arms

Use an "H" (5mm) Crochet Hook.

Pattern - Arms (Make 2):

SC 5 in a Magic Ring

Round 1: SC INC around (10 total)
Round 2-3: SC around (10 each round)
Round 4: SC2, DEC around (8 remain)
Round 5-14: SC around, FO (8 each round)

Stuff Arms: Evenly fill arms with polyester fiber (do not overstuff).

Sew Yarn Ends: Using a yarn needle, weave in (hide) yarn ends.


Step 4: Voodoo Doll: Head

Use an "H" (5mm) Crochet Hook.

Pattern - Head:

SC 6 in a Magic Ring

Round 1: SC INC around (12 total)
Round 2: SC INC, SC 2, repeat around (16 total)
Round 3: SC INC, SC 2, repeat around (22 total)
Round 4-9: SC around (22 each round)
Round 10: SC 2, DEC, repeat around (17 remain)
Round 11: SC1; (DEC, SC 2 repeat around) (13 remain)
Round 12: SC1, DEC, repeat around, FO (9 remain)

Stuff Head: Evenly fill head with polyester fiber (do not overstuff).

Sew Yarn Ends: Using a yarn needle, weave in (hide) yarn ends.


Step 5: Voodoo Doll: Body, Sew on Arms & Head

Use an "H" (5mm) Crochet Hook.

Pattern - Body:

SL Knot yarn (from ball) onto hook.

Round 1: SC around legs (16 total)
Round 2-3: SC around (16 each round)
Round 4: SC 2, DEC, repeat around (12 remain)
Round 5-8: SC around (12 each round)
Round 9: SC2, DEC, repeat around, FO (9 remain)

Sew Arms to Body: Using a yarn needle, sew arms to body (see photo 4 for reference).

Stuff Body: Evenly fill body with polyester fiber (do not overstuff).

Sew Yarn Ends: Using a yarn needle, weave in (hide) yarn ends.

Sew Head to Body: Using a yarn needle, sew head to body (see photos for reference).


Step 6: Voodoo Doll: Heart

For the heart use an "E" (3.5mm) Crochet Hook.

Heart:

Step 1-2: SL knot yarn onto hook and CH 4
Step 3: DC 3 in the 1st CH
Step 4: SC 1 in the 1st CH
Step 5: CH 2
Step 6: SC 1 in the 1st CH
Step 7: DC 3 in the 1st CH
Step 8: CH 3
Step 9: Join with SL ST through center, FO.
Step 10: Pull yarn end through to back (from center)

Finish off heart: Knot yarn ends together, and using a yarn needle, weave in (hide) yarn ends to back of heart. Trim excess.

Sew Heart to Body: Using a yarn needle, sew heart to body (at center-right of chest).


Step 7: Voodoo Doll: Features

Eyes: Sew on buttons for eyes using the same color yarn as body.

Mouth: Using black yarn, sew on a mouth.

Additional "Voodoo" Characteristics: Using black yarn, sew an "X" onto each hand and foot.

Ta-Da! Your Voodoo Doll is now complete!

Time to unleash some revenge on that mortal enemy of yours (ha, ha) or just use it as your new pin cushion.
