Intro: Ammo Can BOOM Box

This was my first attempt at building this speaker BOOM box and it turned out great.  Bellow is the list of parts I used. I also re wired the IR sensor the outside the box so I can use the remote without opening the box. I rewired the FM antenna to the outside also. Every hole I drilled was sealed with 5200 Marine Sealant including two big speaker holes.

I plan to spray paint the speaker covers flat black.

The sound is just amazing, I am very happy with the speaker selection and do recommended to anyone for just about any application.

I see you've mounted the IR sensor outside, but what did you use to mount it in? I can't find anything like that little grommet you used...

I used an LED case, I cut it and pulled the led out...

Great to hear. What kind of amp did you go with?

I went with the same eBay special, $25 (sd, usb, fm and aux). Worked really well but I need to spend a little more time on the speaker baffling, as there's a fair bit of interference at higher volume levels. Otherwise it worked out really well. (The photo was taken before I rerouted the aerial to the top of the box.)

Are you getting much vibration kinda like trunk rattle on it at high volumes.

Not at all. Ammo Can is pretty sturdy.

How do you recommend charging it?

I use NOCO Genius G750 6V/12V 750mA Amp Smart Battery Charger and Maintainer. I bought it originally to charge my Jet Ski battery, but it will charge just about any 6V-12V battery and it has worked well so far.

It depends on how loud its played. 5Amp battery has lasted me about 6-7 hours...
