Introduction: Easy Classic Harry Potter Wand
Here I'll walk you through the steps on how to make an easy classic Harry Potter wand. It takes about an hour to make, but most of the time is dry time. It's a lot of fun and looks gorgeous.
You'll use hot glue to get the pretty design on the handle, which means you can design it any way you want. We tried to get it to look like Hermione's wand, but the color turned a little dark.
Step 1: Accio Materials!
You will need ...
Skewers, chopsticks, or a dowel --- whichever is the right size for a wand. We used a thin dowel and sharpened the end and sanded it down.
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Paintbrush
Brown/gold paint (we mixed black with gold)
Crystal clear gloss
Step 2: Glob a Bunch of Hot Glue on the Handle ...
... and shape the design any way you want. Don't worry if it looks like it doesn't turn out ... it will, after all, have a rustic look overall, and random globs do look very pretty.
Let it dry.
Step 3: Paint!
Any color you want, as long as it is a wood color. Again, we only had gold and black on our hands, so we mixed what we could to get a darker tan color.
Let it dry (this took about half an hour).
Step 4: Spray All Over With Clear Gloss
Step 5: YOU'RE DONE!
Let the clear gloss dry, and then you're done! Now you can say the spells with grandeur and meaning ... ok, whatever, now you can use magic.

awesome instructable. My son makes these, and will often use various shades of nail polish, to create different toned wands. He's found that my "crackle" nail polish works beautifully.
