Introduction: Antique Mower Restoration
I found this mower in my neighbors yard, and he had no use for it so I bought it and decided to restore it. Its a Montgomery Wards Garden Mark, made sometime around the 1950's. It was restored as a summer project by me and my grandfather. Please vote for me in the 2nd Annual Krylon Contest. Thanks!

Had one in the 80's & 90's. Blue with a white handle. Said Kmart on it

i used to cut my neighbors lawn with one back in the late sixties! it was the coolest thing. I now have it and am in the process of restoring it. Glad you know the brand name, I never did. Mine was all white with orange wheels.

Very cool, I bought almost the exact same mower at an auction this summer.
I might do the same. My engine runs but cant power the mower and move at the same time

That's awesome. The motor sounds like it's ready for the dragstrip.

Thanks, I actually advanced the spark a little by setting the points gap closer. It seemed to give it a little more kick at idle. :)

My paint was so far gone, that I just picked what colors i thought would look good. Not sure what color the body is supposed to be, it was either white or silver, but I know the motor was gold. The paint i used was Dupli-Color automotive paint in an aerosol can. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Thanks!

I remember my old timer neighbor buying that exact model back in the '70's when I was a kid. When the seller drove it down the street he kept popping wheelies with it! I inherited it when he passed away in '91and spread creeping charlie into my yard with it ;-) I finally sold it to a friend in about 1994 for $75! He used it for years and gave it away. It sure was a fun tiny little riding mower! Thanks for the memories.

i keep arguing with myself about a riding mower. my yard is big enough that it pisses me off that i have to cut it, but it's not a farm. takes me an hour and 45 to 2 hours or so to cut the front and the back. not huge. if i could find a mower like that my debate would be over. i'd even build it a little house to sleep in at night.
