Introduction: Authentic Middle Eastern Breakfast (Balaleet- بلاليط)
Balaleet is a traditional dish that comes from the Middle East. Specifically, the Gulf region. It represents the cooking culture and the combination of mixing sweet flavor with spices.
Step 1: Ingredients
For this recipe you will need:
Prepare the tools: (pan, plate, basting spoon and colander)
17.6 oz (500 g) Vermicelli pasta
50.7 fl oz (1.5 L) Water
1 Tbsp Ground Cardamom
3 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 Tsp Saffron
3 Tbsp Rose water
1 Cup Sugar
Step 2: Boil the Pasta for 2 Min
Boil 1.5 L water in the pan, add the pasta to the boiling water and stir the pasta to make sure that doesn’t stick together.
Step 3: Drain the Pasta
Drain the pasta very well, then put it back into the pan.
Step 4: Let’s Make It Sweet!
Add all the other ingredients (vegetable oil, saffron, sugar, rose water and cardamom), mix everything together with the pasta, cover the pan, and let it simmer on a low heat on the stove for 5 min.
Step 5: Optional Step: Add Plain Omelette on the Top of Vermicelli (Balaleet)
Cook 2 beaten eggs with salt and pepper on hot pan with vegetable oil and serve it over the vermicelli.
