Today, I will show you how to do an Azkaban Prison Sign from Harry Potter for cheap and fast.

You will need :

Cardboard
Pen
Hot glue
Paint
Xacto

Step 1: Trace the Model

First, trace the model of a box in 2D on the cardboard. This step is pretty simple. You simply have to measure everything. Just for your information, my Azkaban sign dimensions when assembled:

30 cm Width
17 cm Height
3 cm Depth

So for the dimensions of the model on the cardboard you will have to draw according to these measurements.

Step 2: Cut the Model and Cut Rectangle Shapes

Next, simply cut the model you traced. On the cut part, trace and cut 5 rectangles of same dimensions and 2 long rectangles at the bottom of them. You will have to cut multiple ''middle part'' to add depth effect to the holes you've made. You can glue them together when finished.

Step 3: Trace and Cut the Depth Part

You will have to cut a plain rectangle about the same size of the top part. This will be the white part of the sign that you will glue with the other parts that you used to add a depth effect.

Step 4: Assemble the Box and Paint the Signs

To assemble the box, I used hot glue that I applied to the different corners. It's really easy to assemble, just follow the pattern. For ''damage'' effects, I used black and grey paints and then I sand everything.I (try to) reproduce the numbers/characters/shapes from a picture I found on internet.

Step 5: Final Result

An easy DIY project for everyone who likes Harry Potter. It cost me nothing, it looks very good and fits perfectly with my other props! Hope you enjoyed it, any comment is welcome.
