Make a BEETLEJUICE inspired table setting using an old record player.
STEP 1: Watch the Video Tutorial Here!
STEP 2: You'll Need
Old record player
Americana Gloss Enamels in Sand and Black
Americana Acrylics in Black and Orange
Thick wire
Glass dishes
Paintbrushes
Tape
Cardboard
Wire cutters
Rubbing alcohol
Manila folders
STEP 3: Prepare Your Record Player
Cut several layers of cardboard the size of your record player
Cut a small hole in the center so it lays flat on your platter *This is your work surface
Clean your glass dishes with alcohol
Turn on the record player and draw a line on the cardboard so you can center the plate
Turn off the player and tape it in place
Turn on the record player and paint your stripes starting with the light colors first
STEP 4: Bake the Dishes
Bake twice at 350° for 30 minutes letting the oven cool in between baking times
*This will insure they are dishwasher safe
STEP 5: Make the Flowers and Invites
Cut 4" x 4" squares out of a manila folder
With the acrylic paint a large black circle with an orange center
Trace and cut the flowers using my flower template
Overlap the petals to create dimension and tape together
Use heavy gage wire for the stems

You don't mention, but I assume you put the dishes into a cool oven and let it come up to 350 degrees with the dishes inside??

I love this! What a great use for a record player and the perfect way for those of us (me) who can't draw perfect circles!

That's just.... disturbing. But in a good way. :0)

I hope you're talking about the music...... :)

I was thinking "what music"? Then I noticed there is a video. It doesn't want to play right now for some reason. Anyway, I was talking about the table setting. I meant what I said though, it's disturbing in a good way, like Beetlejuice. It's a little hard to look at, with all those swirls, but it's hard to look away at the same time.
I'm not explaining myself very well. I'm a fan of Beetlejuice, and of disturbing people mildly-just enough to make them wonder- so I like this and would totally use it, along with some interesting theme related foods, if I was hosting a Halloween party.
I just checked to see if I had voted for you, but it doesn't look like you have entered any of the contests?

I get what you're saying and thank you! I did enter the zipper contest a while back. I love the contests on Instructables. It's a great community here.

Very pretty! Lydia would be proud! Or scared I could never really tell how she felt about that... Thanks for sharing!
