I really need to say something here! There are a plotheora of projects on this website that can be lethal in the wrong hands. I say 'Wrong Hands' I mean people with lack of common sense and without supervision if inexperienced. My chemistry teacher demonstrated combustion of oxygen & a flammable vapour - using a bottle and a launch tube - very impressive!!! I used methylated spirits (95%Etol) and air in a blue water cooler bottle - they are very rigid!!! My only criticism is the picture holding a bottle on fire & the use of a low flashpoint petroleum distillate.!!!! If care due attention & protection such as gloves and a visor are used then Safe Fun Can Be Had..... after all this is a Makers Website!!! :-)

I do something similar but much safer than using gasoline. Use a high proof alcohol and a soda bottle. The soda bottle is thicker and less likely to melt. The alcohol, although it burn hotter, is not as explosive as gas. Pour a small amount into the bottle, shake, and light. DO NOT TIP OVER or you will pour out flaming alcohol. The burning of the alcohol will consume all the oxygen and the only remaining flame will be at the opening of the bottle, blow out to extenguish. Again: keep the bottle upright, never look into it, ensure it is fully extinguished immediatley after each light.

Really stupid Instructable. Not anywhere near the standard of quality you usually see here. More like Jackkass stunts.

I did something like this years ago with oxygen and acetylene and the bottle blew up my face, temporarily blinding and defeating me and concussed my hand while embedding plastic shards into it. My friend almost lost an eye and had a large gash up his cheek... It's stupid to do things like that. Don't do this, you are asking for trouble. I got lucky.

A kid can go from having "fun with fire" to a bottle bomb and 3rd degree burns with just a little bit too much fuel!

    Do Not Attempt!

    VERY DANGEROUS
VAPORS CAN GET OUT UNNOTICED UNTIL YOU LIGHT A MATCH
