Step 1: The Head
Roll a small amount of tinfoil into a ball(Make the ball slightly smaller than the size you want the head to end up being). Flatten out some Sculpey Clay (about the size of the palm of your hand). Cover the tin foil in the clay
Step 2: Detailing the Head
Use a small round tool to make two indents where the eyes will go. Use a knife tool to make Groot's lovely smile!
Starting from the center of the scalp add sprouts that get bigger as they reach the sides of the head.

Step 3: The Body
Use tin foil as the base of the body. Cover in Sculpey clay. Add vines and score the clay to give a natural wood feeling. Take this opportunity to add any last minute details to the face.
Step 4: Bake
Bake in the oven according to your Sculpey instructions. Mine said to put it in at 275 for 15 minutes.
Step 5: Attach Head to Body
With a sharp tool (carefully!!!) puncture both the bottom of the head and the neck. Insert small piece of dowel rod (about two inches long) into the neck about an inch deep. Put the head on the other end and glue In place.
Step 6: Paint
Start with a base coat of light brown. Brush a small amount of dark brown into the crevices. Paint the vines and hair-sprouts a brownish green. You don't have to worry about making it perfect! Make sure you paint the flower pot white!
Step 7: Eyes
To make the eyes make two small dots with hot glue. Wait until they cool completely and paint them black or color them black with a sharpie. Glue them into the depressions made in the face.
Step 8: Finishing Up
Fill the bottom of the flower pot with crumpled tin foil. Make small rings with tin foil to hold your baby Groot upright. Glue these pices together.
Make a circle with your fabric (slightly larger than the diameter of the pot) and make a hole in the center to insert the bottom of your baby Groot.
Put your Groot into the fabric ring and then glue everything into the pot
