Introduction: Thermoelectric Backpack Refrigerator

About: There's nothing better than making something yourself. It's one of the pleasures of life to say I made that! That's worth any.... well, most price tags.
Backpack Refrigerator
My name is Dustin.  I enjoy thinking of solutions and ideas to make innovative, new products that could be marketed with the proper tools.  This particular idea includes new applications for solid state refrigeration and heating which can be used by ATV and motorcycle riders, as well as hikers.  I have worked to obtain the knowledge and skills over the last 4 years to work on projects like this, and I am ready to make my ideas a reality.

You will help me to take my designs and to build:
  • Refrigerator/Warmer backpack (ATV riders)
  • Refrigerator/Warmer Saddlebag (motorcycle riders)
  • Refrigerator/Warmer gloves/handle grips
  • Phone/iPod charger using thermoelectric generation
With the following features:
  • State-of-the-art solid-state technology using a Peltier TEC (thermoelectric cooler)
  • Fully insulated, waterproof
  • Fuse protection
  • Quick disconnect from vehicle
  • separate battery supply (optional)
  • No moving parts (besides a fan with a brushless motor)
  • Maintenance free
  • no CFC's. Greener for the environment
  • Adjustable thermostat
  • Solar Rechargeable or tying in to existing vehicle battery.
  • Heating or cooling
To those who say this has already been done:  Yes, there are products for sale now that feature thermoelectric cooling (i.e. Koolatron brand), but they are limited in their cooling capacity and operating ambient temperature range.  I want the resources to address this issue for the more extreme conditions of a recreational vehicle.

I work in a coal mine, and this can transform my life quicker, potentially allowing me to continue to provide for a family of 6 without the dangers I work with now.  Thank you for your consideration!
