Baked Chex Mix

Introduction: Baked Chex Mix

I love my mom's homemade Chex Mix, but she lives two hours away and I don't have a microwave so I had to figure out a workaround for that. It's a little more time consuming without a microwave, but I think it tastes better and has a more satisfying crunch. Chex Mix is a great customizable snack.

Step 1: Ingredients

1 box rice chex

1 box corn chex

Pretzels, nuts etc. optional

1-2 sticks of melted unsalted butter (start with 1 stick and add more as needed)

1/4 cup seasoning salt (start with less and add more, this is a flavor preference)

1/4 cup worcestershire sauce(start with less and add more, this is a flavor preference)

Step 2: Mix

In a large bowl add your Chex cereal, I usually do 1/2 and 1/2 at a time. Melt 1 stick of butter and then pour over the cereal. Add in Worcestershire sauce and seasoning salt, a little at a time. Mix well and taste. Add more Worcestershire sauce and seasoning salt as needed. I usually add a lot more than I probably need, but I also like the strong flavor.

Repeat with the rest of the cereal.

Step 3: Prep for Baking

Preheat oven to 225-250.

On a lined cookie sheet, spread out the Chex mixture. I usually use 2 baking sheets when I make Chex mix.

Step 4: Bake

You want to bake the mix for 45-60 minutes. Every 15-20 minutes I use a spatula to turn the cereal over for more even baking---I will also do multiple taste tests.

When the Chex is done baking, remove from oven and let cool---if you can. I usually don't.

I store the Chex mix in air tight containers for up to a week.
