Introduction: Balloon Puppy
This is a step by step tutorial on how to create a balloon puppy.
These easy to make balloon puppies are great to make for carnivals and parties.
This tutorial requires special twisting balloons and a pump to inflate them.
The balloons can be found at most local party supply stores.
Any hand pump will suffice to inflate the balloons.
Step 1: Inflate the Balloon
Leaving 3-4 inches at the end, inflate the balloon.
WARNING
A pump must be used to inflate the balloon properly. Failure to use a pump can cause fatigue and dizziness
Step 2: Create Head Part 1
Twist the balloon 5 to 6 inches from the inflated end to create two different segments: a long segment and a short segment.
While holding both segments so that they do not untwist, fold the short segment onto the long segment.
WARNING
When twisting the balloon be careful not to over twist
Step 3: Create Head Part 2
Start halfway along the short segment and twist the two segments together 3-4 times or until the balloon stays twisted when released.
WARNING
When twisting the balloon be careful not to over twist
Step 4: Create Front Legs Part 1
Move 5 to 6 inches from the recently created ears and twist the balloon again to create two segments in the untwisted portion of the balloon.
While holding both segments so that they do not untwist, fold the longer segment underneath the shortened segment.
WARNING
When twisting the balloon be careful not to over twist
Step 5: Create Front Legs Part 2
Start halfway between the ears and the folded end of the balloon and twist the two segments together 3-4 times or until the balloon stays twisted when released.
WARNING
When twisting the balloon be careful not to over twist
Step 6: Create Hind Legs Part 1
Make another twist halfway along the length of the untwisted segment of the balloon.
While holding both segments so that they do not untwist, fold the two segments onto each other.
WARNING
When twisting the balloon be careful not to over twist
Step 7: Create Hind Legs Part 2
Starting between the front legs and the folded end of the balloon and twist the two segments together 3-4 times or until the balloon stays twisted when released.
WARNING
When twisting the balloon be careful not to over twist

Even though I've known how to do this for a while, you've explained it a lot better than I could have. Great job.

Balloon penguin...probably not. I only knew how to do a dog and an octopus. I've never even seen a balloon penguin. Can you make one?

There's a brilliant balloon modelling book (who's name I forget, but it comes in English/Italian). Make a penguinn, snail, roadrunner. You can make pretty much *anything* out of balloons.
Lovely pictoral instructable. Don't forget the bobble tail by sucking hard on the uninflated bit of tail. The pressure difference created by sucking is what inflates the tail.
