Introduction: Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

About: I like to make things for the internets. I also sell a pretty cool calendar at supamoto.co. You'll like it.
Bananas + oats + chocolate chip cookie dough. So many of my favorite things in one place and it doesn't fall apart. Quite the contrary, they're really tasty and are very soft. Like a cross between banana bread and a cookie. If that phrase is at all appealing to you you should try this out. It's easy and oh so tasty.

Step 1: Ingredients

Preheat oven to 375F

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 cups rolled old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
Stuff
  • Two bowls
  • Mixer
  • Spoon/spatula
  • measuring spoons and cups
  • cookie sheets
  • Parchment paper or baking mat (optional)

And did you preheat that oven to 375F? Just checking

Step 2: Bowl 1 - Flour Mix

In a bowl, sift together:
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 cups rolled old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Step 3: Bowl 2: Starts With Butter

In a second bowl, mix these together until light and fluffy
  • 3/4 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar

When you've attained fluffiness, add in:
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Step 4: Adding 1 to 2

Now to bring it together!
  1. Add half of the flour mixture to the second bowl, mix until combined
  2. Add the bananas, mix until combined
  3. Add the rest of the flour mixture to the second bowl, mix until combined
  4. Stir in chocolate chips

Step 5: Stop, Drop, and Bake

On cookie sheets lined with parchment paper or baking mats or greased with butter, drop rounded tablespoons of the batter onto them. Keep them at least 2 inches apart.

Bake them for 12 minutes, turning the pan at 6 minutes.

Step 6: Cool and Eat

When you take the cookies out of the oven, let them cool on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks.

Then eat! Or put them in a container for up to 4-5 days and then eat!
