Introduction: Barbecue Potato Chips (Made on a Grill!)

Crispy Homemade BBQ Chips (Barbecue Chips) tossed in a spicy barbecue seasoning are easier to make at home than you think! They contain no artificial flavors or colorings, and are better tasting than store-bought chips. They're so delicious and are perfect for when you can't go to the store during lockdown, or just any occasion. Let's get started!

Ingredients (2 servings):

- 2 large potatoes (I used red potatoes, but you can use any large potatoes)

- 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar.

- 1 tbsp smoked paprika

- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder

- 1 tsp chili powder

- 1 tsp onion powder

- 1/2 tbsp salt

- Oil to fry

Step 1: Preparing the Potatoes

1. Peel the potatoes.

2. Cut the potatoes into thin slices. I used a knife, but you can also use a mandolin or any other device that cuts potatoes into super thin slices. If you have a device that can cut super thin slices, I'd recommend using that because it is a bit harder to get thinner slices with using a knife.

3. In a clean bowl filled with water, soak the slices for 15 minutes to remove the starch.

Step 2: Frying/ Barbecuing the Chips

When it comes to cooking the chips, there are a few options. You can cook them on a grill, which is what I did for one batch, or fry them on a stove, which is what I did for the other batch.

4. After the potatoes are done soaking, remove the water and lay them between two sheets of paper towels to remove the moisture.

5. After the moisture is removed, fry the potatoes in oil until they are crispy and golden brown. If you have a deep fryer, fry it at 325 degrees farenheit for about 4 minutes. Tip : Be careful while frying, because the thinness of the potatoes can cause the oil to fly everywhere sometimes, so make sure to use tongs to move the chips and maintain a distance from the frying oil.

6. Place your fried chips into a bowl, and set aside.

4. . After the potatoes are done soaking, remove the water and lay them between two sheets of paper towels to remove the moisture.

5. Transfer the potatoes to a bowl, and coat them with 1 tbsp of oil.

6. Transfer the potato chips to a baking sheet lined with aluminium foil and greased with oil.

7. Make sure your grill is also lined with foil, to protect your baking sheet. Make sure your baking sheet is heat safe for high levels of heat before continuing.

8. I used my gas powered grill, and grilled these at 400 degrees fahrenheit for about 20 minutes, or until they were crisp and golden brown. Make sure the lid of your grill is closed through the whole process, so you can trap heat and cook the chips. It's essentially like baking the chips, but using a grill instead. This is a much healthier option to frying the chips, and I highly recommend!

Step 3: Making the Seasoning

7. Combine together all the spices in the ingredient list.

8. Add it to your chips, and make sure to coat each chip. Stir it around with a spoon until it coats each chip.
