Introduction: Baseball Hitting Training Session

I will be teaching the basic steps and movements of the baseball swing.

Supplies

  1. Bat
  2. Batting gloves (Optional)
  3. Batting Tee
  4. Baseballs

Step 1: Warming Up

Start by moving the body around to get warm

  1. 50 yard jog
  2. A-skips
  3. Lunge
  4. Hamstring scoops
  5. Quad pulls
  6. T-spine open
  7. Side lunge

Step 2: One Hand Drills

Hitting with one hand off the tee will allow you to feel the swing at a slower pace.

  1. Start with the bat in the bottom hand. Take ten swing trying to hit the ball right back at pitcher. focus on extension through the ball
  2. Switch to top hand. Take 10 swings focusing on keeping the elbow close to the body and hitting it up the middle.

Step 3: Tee Work

Now the way to work on different pitches is by moving the tee around.

  1. 5 Swings with tee on outer half of plate. Hit it to right field.
  2. 5 Swings with tee in middle of plate. Hit it up the middle.
  3. 5 Swings with tee on inside half of plate. Hit it to left field.
