Introduction: Basic Button

In this lesson you will learn to make a basic button with cylinder shapes.

  1. Drag a cylinder to the workplane.

Step 1: Basic Button

  1. Scale it down to a height of 2mm.
  2. Tip: You can scale down the cylinder with the white dot at the top of the cylinder shape.

Step 2: Basic Button

  1. Scale it smaller to a diameter of 16mm.
  2. This will be the main shape of the button.

Step 3: Basic Button

  1. Now we can create the holes that will allow the button to be sewn to a shirt.
  2. Drag a cylinder shape to the workplane.

Step 4: Basic Button

  1. Scale it smaller to a diameter of 3mm.
  2. Move it to the area marked in orange.
  3. Make this cylinder a hole.
  4. Don't forget you can adjust the Snap Grid from 1.0mm to 0.5mm for more accuracy when positioning shapes.

Step 5: Basic Button

  1. Copy and paste the hole.
  2. Move the holes to the area marked in orange.

Step 6: Basic Button

  1. Select all the shapes and group them into a single object by clicking the group button on the menu bar.
