Introduction: Beats by Andres and James(DIY HEADPHONES)
Enjoy
Step 1: Step 1.
First you would have to buy red copper wire of 28 gauge
Step 2: Step 2.
Then you have to cut about 4 feet off wire
Step 3: Step 3.
Use the cut copper wire to wrap around gluestick
Step 4: Step 4.
Then repeat steps1-3 trials of the same step above for your coils
Step 5: Step 5
Take the rolled coil off of the glue stick nice and softly(put the wrapped coil aside)
Step 6: Step 6
Start to sand the tips of the coil for all of the coils
Step 7: Step 7
Wrap electrical tape around the bottom of the cup(make sure it is straight)
Step 8: Step 8
Get the 2 magnets and put one under the cup and one on top of the cup
Step 9: Step 9
Tape the 1 of the coils in the middle of the magnets so coils won't fall off
Step 10: Step 10
Buy or get two alligator clips to grab both ends of the sanded coil.
Step 11: Step 11
With the other end of the alligator clips attach the ends of the alligator clip to the AUX cord.
Step 12: Step 12
Put the AUX cord inside the slot where headphones would go
Step 13: Step 13
Go to your playlist of music and choose a song
Step 14: Step 14
Get finished designed cup and pick up with caution and place the cup next to your ear
Step 15: Step 15
Press play and hear the music(close your other ear so you can only hear the music.
Step 16: Step 16
Repeat steps for trials 1-3
Step 17: Materias
- 28 gauge Copper Wire
- Alligator Clips
- Sand Paper 2
- Plastic Cups
- Electrical Tape
- 2 Germanium Magnets
- Aux cord
- 1 Cell Phone
- Tweezers
- Scissors
Step 18: Trouble Shooting
- If troubleshooting and can't hear good quality sound, you can change your cup from a clear cup to small paper cup(tested to have a better quality sound)
- Also use more magnets to create a stronger magnetic field which will make the voice coils stronger, which make the vibrations better for the voice coil
Step 19: 3 Main Componets
1.Voice Coil: Will vibrate when magnetic fields is near it. The vibrations turn into sound when processed through cone which will amplify the sound. Voice coil is the electricity carrier for headphones.
2.Magnet:Provides the magnetic field for voice coil to vibrate. The stronger the magnetic field the more vibrations.
3. Cone: Amplifies the sound to better quality
Step 20: Prototyping
By experimentation, better sound will come out if there is more voice coil. Also make sure to tighten the voice coil and keep straight when taping to the case of headphones. The stronger the magnet, the stronger the vibrations become for louder a sound.
