Introduction: Bicycle Lights
Hello Everyone!!! Today I am going to show you how to make a bicycle light using everyday materials.
Step 1: Tools Required
Here is a list of the tools which you would require to make the project:
- Ruler
- Scissor
- Cutter
- Electric tape
- Glue
Step 2: Materials Required
Here is a list of the materials which you would require to make the project:
- 9-volt battery
- 9-volt battery clip connector
- LED strip
- Switch
- Wires
- A box to enclose the circuit
- Aluminium foil
- Upper elastic of socks (refer image)
Step 3: Circuit Making
Connect the battery, switch, & LED strip using wires (use the circuit diagram given above as a reference).
Turn on the switch and check whether the circuit is working or not.
If it is working properly, proceed to the next step.
Step 4: Enclosing the Circuit in the Box
Now enclose the circuit within the box (the box which i have used is a business cards box).
Cut a thick piece of cardboard (or paste 4 pieces of cardboard together), make sure that the height of the piece is not higher than that of the box, and paste aluminum foil on one side, the aluminium foil would act as a reflector.
Now, paste the led strip on the aluminium foil and stick the piece of cardboard in the box.
Step 5: Adding the Dividers
Cut thick pieces of cardboard (or join 4 pieces of cardboard together) and paste them between the battery & switch, and between the switch & LED strip.
This would ensure that the components of the circuit remain in place and would not collide with each other while you riding the bicycle.
Note:
Use super glue if you going to ride in areas where roads are rough and bumpy.
Step 6: Attaching
To attach your lights, follow the steps given below:
- Take the elastic (of socks) and wrap it around your light
- Keep the light box above your handlebars
- Stretch the elastic from below and bring it to the other side.
- Bring the elastic to the top of the box.
You can also change the angle of the box.(See image)
