Intro: Bicycle Brake Lights. (How To)

Are you bored of being invisible in the dark? Your problems are solved! This instructable will show you how to make braking lights. These lights will light up when you are braking, this will help people behind you know that you are slowing down. In 2012, 726 lost their lives in bicycle vehicle crashes. Lets save our lives by adding inexpensive braking lights!

STEP 1: Things You Will Need

Equipment
  1. Duck tape
  2. Some wires
  3. Red or orange led strips (I suggest to use 15cm strips for both sides)
  4. Microswitch
  5. A bike :D
  6. A battery pack or a rechargeable battery like a Ni-mih or a Lipo (Whichever one you prefer to use)

Tools

  1. Hot glue gun
  2. Soldering iron

STEP 2: Solder the Strips

You will need to solder the strips in this faction.

STEP 3: Glue the Microswitch

Glue the microswitch to the brakes.

(If brakes are different, then glue them next to the brake line)

STEP 4: Connect the Led Strips and Microswitch

Connect the led strips to the microswitch and the battery.

STEP 5: And You're Done!!!

If you have any questions ask me! (Sorry for any bad english, im from Lithuania)

I am planning on doing a tutorial for a RGB light on a bike.

What kind of glue did you use on the microswitch?

Hey, I used hot glue but you can use super glue or stroger glue like epoxy. but for me is easiest hot glue!

This reminds me of one of my old projects. Thanks for sharing!

Ohh realy? :D LOL I got this idea from cheap chinese turning with braking lights but they are to bad for me. :D And I as told I plan on doing RGB frame lights!
And could you vote for me in a Instructable bike contest? Thanks!
