Introduction: Bio-degradable Luminaire.

I have designed a bio-luminaire using biodegradable materials. The design of the biodegradable luminaire is modular, allowing for easy disassembly and recycling. The lighting components consist of energy-efficient LED lights that consume very little power and emit no heat, ensuring a longer lifespan. The main advantages of biodegradable luminaires are their sustainable and environmentally friendly nature. They reduce the amount of electronic waste generated by the lighting industry, contributing to sustainable development goals.

Supplies

MATERIALS

1) Eggshells

2) rooibos

3) vase-line

4)water

5)flour

6) 4 egg trays

TOOLS

1) laser cutter

2) teaspoon

3) bucket

4) line bender

5) 4mm acrylic perspex

6) sand paper

Step 1: Laser Cutting the Master Piece

  1. draw the flat pattern of the shape which is about 250mm x 250mm.
  2. save the file as a dxf or pdf for laser cutting.
  3. use 4mm acrylic perspex.
  4. bend the acrylic using the line bender at about ( 30 degrees)

Step 2: Mix the Mold

  1. tear 4 egg trays and put them inside the bucket.
  2. add boiling water then let it soak for about 5 minuets.
  3. then add crushed eggshells and a cup flour
  4. stare well until the mixture is dough like.
  5. make sure it is well stared and the flour is nit visible.

Step 3: Applying Vaseline on the Masterpiece

  1. apply vase-line or cooking oil masterpiece. ( to avoid the mold from sticking into the master piece)
  2. do not put apply it too much it will cause the mold to fall.

Step 4: Pour the Mixture Into the Masterpiece

  1. nicely and carefully apply the mold in the masterpiece
  2. make sure that your thickness is atleast 4mm so that when you remove the mold from the masterpiece it does not break.
  3. let it dry for a good fair +/- 36 hours minimum
  4. make sure the mold has well dryed before removing it.
