Introduction: Birdcage Earring Organizer

About: Teacher in Training! Sings, acts, attempts to dance when necessary...
So, I recently added a few new piercings to my list. (Just the ears, folks. Keeping it PG.) I like to change my earrings often, so I quickly became frustrated with how unorganized they seemed to be. I knew I needed some way to keep my earrings separate, but I like to keep my room a particular way and didn't want another clunky jewelry box sitting around. After walking around Michael's about 8 billion times searching for ideas, this is what I came up with. (And a little birdy told me it's super easy to recreate!)

Step 1: The Birdcage

I started by buying a small, simple decorative birdcage. Before you buy it, make sure the top opens! The first thing I did was hang all of the "dangly" earrings around the outside of the birdcage. They are now easily accessible and all on display to make choosing a pair easy and quick.

Step 2: Don't Forget the Studs!

Next I found a small glass bowl. (I already had this one sitting around my room, but you could find one anywhere.) The purpose of this bowl was to keep all of my "stud" earrings handy as well!

Step 3: Birdy

This next step came about because I also happened to have this tiny glass bird in my room. However, for the purposes of recreating, I suggest going to a craft or home goods store to find a small decorative bird. Or you could try finding one at an antique store, yard sale, Goodwill, etc. There are so many ways to make this project your own, so get creative!

Step 4: Nest

To enhance the idea of the "birdcage" I bought some light colored decorative grass at Michael's. Every birdy needs a nest! (This step could be skipped though because I'm sure I lost some of you there. I get a little cheesy about my decorating!)

Step 5: Finishing Up

The only thing left to do is put your earring dish (and bird!) in their new home! Your earrings are now organized and on display in a way that won't make you cringe at the sight of it. Grab a pair off the rack, or open up for some studs. With earrings this easy to access, you'll be changing them every day!
