Introduction: Bladeless Fan
Since a long time ago Lima has lived really warm summers and every year the highest temperature is increasing due to the global warming and the greenhouse effect, the temperature un our city can reach the 28°C with a sensation of 30° C. That always has been a problem and the obvious solution is the use of fans, but these have some pros and cons.
The people usually uses conventional fans that generates air currents with the help of their blades and can achieve their objective, but are noisy, ineffiecient and dangerous. Is for this reason that sir James Dyson invented a fan without exterior blades, It is more efficient, dont generates noise and is secure above all for the children. But even this fan have a important imperfection, the price, this fan is really expensive (around $300) so it can be unachievable for the most part of the population. Is for this reason that we are improving this model and trying to build a Dyson fan from recyclable components, it would make that it becomes cheaper than the original bladeless fan and keeping its advantages against the conventional fans.
Step 1: Build the Fan Support
Use a union of PVC pipes and drill holes so that they can reach the switch, the potentiometer and the 12 v power source. Also make a support for the CPU fan that contains a hole so you can access the air.
Step 2: Making the Hole
Use 2 buckets of paint and cut one to a space of the base to be like a hollow cylinder and do the same with the other one but more smaller. Then you have to cut another segment of a bucket's wall. After this, cut a ring on the acrylic sheet and stick to the inside edge of this the acrylic ribbon. Followed, paste the buckets and the acrylic ring. Finally, make a hole in the outer cut bucket, so that air can enter through it.
Step 3: Electrical Circuit
Link the electronic components by welding them as shown in the diagram.
Step 4: Air Entrance
Make a hole in the pedestal so a sufficient amount of air can enter. Seal the parts where the air can "escape".
Step 5: Paint and Decorate
In our case, we decided to paint it white, but you can also put LED lights if you want as long as it does not interfere in the air flow.
