Introduction: Blinking LED Mouse Hack
I wanted to add a LED on my Logitech mouse
where the LED would blink when i move the mouse.
I wanted to do this WITHOUT using a PIC chip or a 555 timer.
So all you need is one led diode.
Step 1: Parts.
Parts needed:
- Mouse (i used a logitech mouse model: M-S48a)
-One LED
-Voltmeter
-Soldering Iron
Step 2: Disassemble the Mouse
First Dissasemble the mouse
There's a screw underneath the mouse.
Once you open the mouse, use the volt meter to measure the voltage between pin-5 and pin-13 on the A/D converter .
By moving one of the wheels of the mouse you will notice a voltage difference accross pins 5 and 13.
This is where you'll connect the diode.
If you're using a different mouse (other than Logitech) just try measuring the voltage between each pin while you're moving the wheel at the same time. Once you find a voltage difference between two pins, solder the LED there.
Make sure you use the right polarity of the diode.

Step 3: Solder the LED
Solder the LED on pins 5 and 13 (watch the polarity of the led) and drill a hole on the side of the mouse cover for the led to fit
Step 4: Close the Cover and Enjoy
Sit back and enjoy....
