Introduction: DIY Book Jewelry Box

Make a box to stow all of your jewelry. You can store it lying down or upright. Or hide your jewelry on your bookshelf!

Step 1: Materials

You will need:
Large Book Box ( I bought mine at Michael's for $11)
Cork
Adhesive Squares
Wire (Soft, Flexible 14-8 gauge)
Box's to fit your other Jewelry (Braclets, Post earings, rings etc.)
Push Pins
Paint
Other decorations ( I bought wooden birds)

Tools:
Scissors
Exacto Knife
Pliers

Step 2: Cut and Place the Cork

Using the Exacto Knife and a ruler to cut the Cork to fit into the back of the box. Place the adhesive squares on the cork. Depending on the size of the cork use 2 to 5 squares per piece.

Step 3: Earrings

Remove the upper layers of cork. Take the Wire and cut a piece 2-3 inches long depending on how long you want plus an extra 1/2 inch on each side. Bend the wire to 90 degree angles on both sides. Push the wire into the cork on the upper right side (this is easiest done on carpet.) Next bend the ends that sick out on the back against the cork forming a "staple." Repeat this step for 2 to 4 more pieces of wire depending on how many earrings you have.

Step 4: Necklaces

To hang necklaces use Pushpins or Hook Screw. Place them in the cork in an upper corner and layer extra adhesive squares behind if needed to secure them. Use 1 - 5 pins depending on how many necklaces you have.

Step 5: Bracelets and Other

Take the extra boxes and paint them if you want to match the color. Use adhesive squares to attach the boxes to the cork. I wanted to keep the lids as well because this prevents the jewelry from falling out if I turn the box upside down. When attaching make sure you have room for the lids as well.

Step 6: Extra Decoration

If you want any extra decoration on in your box simply add it with glue. Be careful that the placement of your decorations won't make it so that you cannot close your box.

Step 7: Finish

Place your jewelry inside and enjoy!
