Introduction: Build a K'nex Bird Cage!

About: Hello there! I'm Knex2thelimit. I build all sorts of things with K'nex, from practical items to ball machines. Sometimes, I've even made things that have never been seen before, such as a bird feeder or a monu…

Congratulations! You're now the proud owner of a new pet bird!

You're so excited to go to the other pet store and buy your new friend's deluxe bird cage!

But, there's none left! You can't leave your pet out over-night! What are you going to do...

Never fear! With the new k'nex bird cage, all you'll need is some k'nex and time. Your bird will be so happy in it!

The bird cage features...

- A locking door with five door locks!

- A nice, secure floor for your bird to walk on.

- A handle for easy transportation.

- And a swinging perch for your bird!

So what are you waiting for? Go and proceed to the next step!

P.S. Due to limited time on this Instrucable, I am unable to include a parts list. Sorry! I also used the alternate color scheme for this project.

Step 1: The Base and Cage Walls

This quite an important step. Without it, how would your bird stay in its cage? Make sure to follow all the image notes, as they will help you.

Step 2: The Door

This is the easiest step. I'm sure you could substitute the hinges for gray connectors. You'll just have to mod the door a bit. To open the door, unclip all locks and swing the door open. There will be two more locks in a later step.

Step 3: The Perch

Now, you'll build the perch. Don't attach this yet! Set it aside for later.

Step 4: The Top

This is the most complicated step in the whole Instrucable. Follow every image note! They will really help you! Keep in mind that everything must be attached exactly how I have it. If not, then the top won't connect properly.

Step 5: Putting It All Together

Now, you'll put everything that you've built so far together! Remember to follow the image notes!

Step 6: The Handle

Finally, you'll build the handle. The circular connection with the green flexi-rod is hard. Just keep trying! Also, this handle does fall off from time to time, especially if you quickly pick up or put the cage down.

Step 7: You're Done!

Hooray! You're all done! Now, put that bird in and watch! Please note that you can move the gray rods around to change the spacing in between them. As far as I know, this is the first k'nex bird cage on Instrucables. Please let me know if it's not! Remember to comment and ask if something is unclear. Thanks for building or reading!
