Introduction: Button & Charm Hair Clips

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

Simple yet fashionable, these upcycled hair clips will make a true fashion statement with any completed hairstyle!

Step 1: What You'll Need

To make these, you will need...

  • assorted hair clips
  • small charms
  • buttons
  • white paint
  • glue gun

Step 2: Plan Assembly

To start, arrange some buttons on a hair clip to determine your placement.

Step 3: Glue

Then, once you've figured out your placement and how many buttons you planned on using (depending on the size of your hair clip), start attaching them with a few small dabs of hot glue.

Step 4: Charm Hair Clip

For the charm hair clip, first paint the top of your hair clip white. This is because you want your charms to pop out. Mine are small shrinkies that you fill with shrink pieces and melt them so that it comes out like mini sun catchers. In addition, the charms are mainly transparent, so I chose to paint my hair clip white so they can pop out. However, you can use any other paint color that you wish other than white if your prefer something a little bit different.

Step 5: Add Charms

Now, glue the charms across the top of the hair clip and let dry completely!

Step 6: Done!

Now, you can put them in your hair and enjoy!
