Step 1: Materials

Here's what you'll need to make these non-edible artworks...

  • a large piece of plywood
  • acrylic paints
  • sponge brushes
  • paint brush
  • painter's tape
  • small buttons
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun
  • pencil
  • ruler

Step 2: Prepare the Plywood

First, prepare the plywood for painting by dividing it into 4 rectangular sections with a pencil. Then, outline the sections with a few thin pieces of painter's tape.

Step 3: Paint the Plywood

Now, paint each section of your plywood a different color. The colors that you choose will be the contrasting colors of your small buttons.

Step 4: Make the Ice Cream Cones and Cupcakes

Now, lightly sketch an outline of an ice cream cone and cupcake, 2 for each section. Then, grab your buttons and make 2 ice cream scoop shapes on two of the painted sections using a hot glue gun. Then, paint cones and cupcake wrappers, again 2 for each section, with matching colors.

Step 5: Display

Now, it's the perfect work of art for your wall or a gift for someone! Sweet!
