Introduction: Button Lid Jars

About: Hi everyone! I'm a hardcore DIY'er, I've published 11 DIY books, just produced my own TV show called Make Your Mark for PBS/APT, I make YouTube videos every week and I'm buried under a mountain of craft suppl…

Recycle your old jars and make a cute set of button lidded jars to organize your supplies.

Step 1: Watch the Video Tutorial Here!

Step 2: You'll Need

Scrap wood

Jars with metal lids

Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Black (Carbon)

Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in colors you like

Sanding block or sandpaper

Black cord

Step 3: Age Your Lid

Hit your lids with a hammer to give them an aged/beat up look

*Not too much, they still need to fit on your jars

Mark your holes and drill them

Paint the lids with black chalky finish paint

Step 4: Paint and Thread

After the black paint is dry, rub wax along the edges and dents on the lid

Paint the lids again in different colors

Lightly sand the lids to expose the black paint on the dents and edges

Thread with the black cord

Tie a knot on the underside of the lid and you're done.

Thanks Emily! It was a great way to make some cabinet space and use up all of the jars I've been saving. I can't seem to toss a jar.....ever!
