Introduction: CHRISTMAS CANDY BOXES
This is such a fun project
Personalize your Christmas gifts by covering little (or big) lidded boxes with Christmas fabrics and decorating the lids with ribbons, roses, bells and holly sprigs.
Fill them with yummy Christmas candies for a tasty and sweet treat for the special someones in your life
Step 1: YOU WILL NEED
A selection of lidded cardboard boxes
White Gesso
Light sandpaper - 240
Paint brushes
White acrylic paint
Tacky glue
Fabric scissors
Small dish to mix , Gesso, paint and tacky glue with water
A selection of Christmas ribbons, ribbon roses, holly stems, little bells etc
A variety of Christmas candy
Step 2: PAINTING THE BOX
This step is only necessary if the box has a color or pattern that can be seen through the fabric you are using to cover it.
Coat the box with Gesso and when dry give it a light sand before applying the white acrylic paint
Allow to dry thoroughly before the next step
Step 3: PREPARING THE FABRIC
Coat the box sides, base and inside edges with the tacky glue mixed with a little water.
Place onto the fabric and cut to fit
Step 4: KEEP IT NEAT
Trim away the excess fabric to make neat and tidy edges around the box base
Apply extra glue where necessary
Step 5: COVER THE LID
Repeat with the lid, tidying any stray threads with sharp scissors
Step 6: COVER ALL YOUR BOXES
Allow the glue to dry before the next step
Step 7: DECORATIONS
Gather your ribbons and trims to decorate the box lid
Have fun trying out different combinations
Step 8: CANDY

Step 9: ASSEMBLE
Now fill them up, pop on the lids and have fun deciding who you will gift them to
