Introduction: CNC Makeup Organizer
In this article I will show you how I made this awesome Makeup
organizer! You could of course use it to hold other things than makeup. It's for example perfect as a paint organizer, with room for all your brushes! I designed it in Fusion 360, and cut it out using a CNC machine. The wood I used is 18mm thick unfinished plywood. I used 12mm copper pipes as the rods. I also tried 3D printing them, and they looked great that way too. You could also use 12mm wooden sticks, which you could buy at hobby stores.

Step 1: Parts and Tools:
I chose to use copper pipes, but you could also use wooden rods or 3D print them. I have included links to both of the options:

Step 2: Design:
I designed the organizer in Fusion 360, and used the built in g-code converter to make the g-codes for the CNC. I am going to publish all the fusion files on my website, so you could download and remix them for your need.

Step 3: Making the Two Plates:
To make the wooden plates I used a cnc machine. This made it super simple to just cut out the parts, and it only took about 30 minutes per plate. With a little bit better wood working skills then I have, you could probably make it using only a drill, a router and a band saw.
When I was done with the two plates, I used a drill press to make four 12mm holes in the back of the top plate. I could have made these holes on the CNC by turning the piece upside down, and let the CNC machine drill the holes, but I found it simpler to just drill them manually. I also 3D printed a template, to mark where the holes should be. This is not necessary though, and it is probably easier to just measure and mark.
Step 4: Make the Rods:
As I said previously, there are several ways to make the rods. I chose to use 12mm copper pipes, because it is simple, looks great, and it is durable. I also tried 3D printing them, which also worked great.
To cut the pipes, I used a pipe cutter. That is the simplest way to cut them, but you could probably just use a metal saw or angle grinder too.
Step 5: Assembling:
The last step is to assemble it! Just insert the rods into the 12 mm holes in the bottom plate, and press them in. You might need to sand the holes a little bit, and/or hammer the rods in. When you have done that, take the top plate and press it on to the rods.
You are now done!
Depending on the wood you used, you might want to cover it with a clear lacquer.
