Introduction: Camera Head Costume
I've made a really quick costume for Halloween and its great to share the idea to you guys.
As I had not time to go to the store and buy stuff I decided to go simple and use scrap items I had on my house.
I came with this idea after I so a guy with a camera on his chest that really worked. So I thought why not to make a camera mask that really works using my Go Pro and My iPad.
Step 1: Items and Materials
This are the items I used:
- Empty Boxes (various sizes)
- Black spray paint
- Big water bottle
- GoPro Like camera (with Wi-Fi connection)
- iPad or Tablet
- Black Paper
- Printer
- Transparency Film
- Plastic Matte Folder (for the flash)
- Lantern (for the flash)
- Cutter and Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun
Step 2: Giving Shape to the Camera
I started with a simple drawing of what I wanted then I found some boxes that fitted just as I needed.
Then I made some holes for the GoPro and the iPad.
I made the circle of the lenses with a big bottle of water and the dials are made from cream bottles and caps.
Then I hot glued them together and the shape of the camera was almost done.
I initially thought on spray-paint it with black paint and live it like that but after the first layer, I didn’t like the way it looked so I used the black paint as a primer for the next step.
Step 3: Finishing and Detailing the Camera
I finally covered all with black paper to simulate the black matte finish of an old Polaroid camera.
I used the transparency film to make the visor of the camera so it could be possible to see through.
For the details I printed in big size actual images of a camera like the dials, the lenses, the logos, etc.
The circle image of the lenses has cuts following the curves of the circles and are just enough to se through and it's just glued to the transparency film from behind.
