Introduction: Captain Nemos Lamp

Reading Jules Verne I always thougt about the Nautillus and the lamps onboard.

Here is an idea of such a lamp :-)

Step 1: The Parts

Some nice looking bulbs
Some bulb sockets
Two wooden pyramids
Some Vulcan Fibre
A dimmer modul
Brass srews, nuts and copper parts
A copper top for fences
Some pieces of plywood

Step 2: Building the Top of the Lamp

I cut fout holes for the E14 bulb sockets and opened the pyramid.
Then I mounted the E14 bulb sockets.
Than I cut a hole to the copper top and two pieces of plywood for the top of the lamp.
The copper top was mounted with ball nuts

Step 3: Mountimng the Top Bulb

I used brass barts to hold the bulb socket in place.
I adjusted the bulb socket so it fits exactly to the copper top.
Then I attached the cables and then I glued the the lamp top and the pyramid together.

Step 4: Building the Lamp

I cut holes for the switch, the mains cable and the dimmer into the lower pyramid.
I glued the upper and lower pyramid together
Than I cut two pieces of volcan fibre and mounted the switch and the dimmer poti to them.
The poti knob is covered by a piece of copper tube.
Last step was the mounting with brass nuts and screws and the cabling.
The cabling ist easy: Alll bulbs are connected parallel and the cables from the bulbs are connected to the dimmer modul.
The mains cable runs trough the switch to the dimmer modul as well.

All metal parts are connected to the earth wire!!!!

You can find an example of a dimmer modul HERE

I stained everything with wax stain.

Have fun :-)
