Introduction: Caramel Pecan Sticky Buns

About: I have been sewing and crafting for several years, my children are grown so now I have lots of time to be creative. I enjoy photography, cooking, cake decorating, painting and sharing my projects with others.

These are made in about 3 hours with the help of a bread machine. So yummy!

Take a batch of these to work and watch them disappear!

Step 1: Ingredients

4 cups Flour

1/2 cup butter

1 package yeast

1/4 cup milk

1 egg,

1 small can pineapple juice (6 oz)

1 tsp salt

.......................................................................

You will also need Non-stick cooking spray

.................................................

1 tbsp cinnamon
1/4 cup white granulated sugar

1-1/2 cups chopped pecans

.....................................................

For the Caramel:

2 cups brown sugar

1 cup 1/2 & 1/2 or heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla

You will also need a bread machine if you don't want to do the kneading.

Step 2: Place Ingredients in the Bread Machine

Place ingredients in the bread machine:

1 egg

1/4 cup milk or half & half

1/2 cup butter

1 can (6 oz) pineapple juice

4 cups flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 package yeast

1 tsp salt

...................................................

select the dough setting and turn machine on.

Allow dough to mix and rise.

Step 3: Caramel

While the dough is rising, make the caramel:

In a mixing bowl combine the 1/2 & 1/2 with the brown sugar. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and stir well until the sugar is dissolved.

Place caramel in greased baking pans.

Step 4: Roll Out Bread Dough

Using a rolling pin, roll out dough onto a floured surface, to 1/4" thick. Spread butter or margarine and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

Sprinkle the pecans over the top.

Step 5: Roll Up Dough

Roll up the dough and cut with dental floss. (Not mint flavored, I learned this the hard way...)

Working with a 12" piece of dental floss, slip it under the roll of dough about 1" from the end and wrap around the top, pulling tight.

This will cut a piece off the end. Continue until all the dough is cut.

Place rolls in a 9 x 13" baking pan or 2 smaller pans.

Allow the dough to rise for 45 minutes before baking.

Step 6: Bake

Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes until done.

Remove from oven and invert onto a plate or tray. Allow to sit for 30 seconds and remove pan.

Enjoy!

There is a mistake, I think, in the recipe. It calls for 1/2 cup butter in the dough but then states to spread it on the dough when rolling. Not sure which is right. Also, if downloading the recipe, the downloaded version leaves off the vanilla from the carmel.

Oh, so yummy! I saw a similar idea in Pinterest, but it was just a photo. Good to know the actual recipe. Do you think that adding apples is a good idea?

Yes, I think chopped apples and/or raisins would be good also!
