Introduction: Chalk Paint Furniture Transformation

We found a CUTE piece of furniture at the thrift store for $30...it just needed to be freshened up! Using chalk paint we turned this into the centerpiece of our French style dining room.

Step 1: Items Needed

2 colors of chalk paint

Sealing wax

Brush

Sandpaper

Step 2: First Color

First, we painted 2 coats of Eggshell white chalk paint.

Step 3: Second Color

Next, we painted two coats of a light blue chalk paint.

Step 4: Distressing

Next I took sandpaper and distressed the edges of the furniture. In some areas I sanded just enough to see the first white layer we painted on. In others, I sanded all the way down to the wood grain.

Step 5: Sealing

Finally I sealed the whole piece with wax. This keeps the chalk from dusting or chipping off.

Step 6: Finished!

And we are done! I love how this turned out. It gave our dining room a French Provincial *pop* of blue! To see additional details, you can visit our blog here.
