Changing Fuel Filters on an 2012 6.7 Powerstroke With an Airdog Lift Pump

Hi, my name is Austin Fredin and I’ll be showing how to properly replace fuel filters on a 6.7 Powerstroke with an Airdog lift pump and parts list.

Supplies

Airdog FF100-2 fuel filter, Motorcraft FD-4615 fuel filter, and Airdog WS100

Step 1: Removing Filters

located under the cab by the driver’s door, untighten both filters with a spill tray placed underneath to catch fuel spillage, once the filters are off safely dispose of them.

Step 2: Priming and Putting Filters on Lift Pump

Pre-prime the filters by topping them off with diesel, spin the filters hand tight back into place on the Airdog system

Step 3: Replacing Engine Bay Filter

replacing the engine bay Motorcraft FD-4615 fuel filter, located beside the coolant reservoir to the inside, push in the grey and green colored part of the clips on the hoses connected to the filter and pull them off.  Once the hoses are off wiggle and pull up on the filter to get it out of the cup. Then take the new filter and place it in making sure the hose connectors are facing the hoses, then put the hoses back on making sure they’re secured and clipped in.

Step 4: When to Replace Filters

Fuel filters should be replaced every 15,000 miles, annually, or after the vehicles fuel has gelled, if the vehicle is gelled the fuse on the lift pump will also need to be replaced. It is good habit to change filters before and after winter especially if the vehicle is operated in colder climates. The water separator does not wear as fast and should be changed every other time.
