Introduction: Changing a Remington Shotgun Choke

Hello everyone, need to change the shooting pattern of your Remington shotgun? This one is for you!

Chokes control the shot pattern of the firearm.

Full choke will have a long range tight pattern. About 75 ft of hit accuracy.

Modified choke is a mid-range with a spread pattern at about 50 ft.

Open choke is a very wide spread pattern that will have about a 5 ft spread at 25 ft.

A good way to understand how your shot spreads is to shot at a large piece of cardboard, and view how the spread went.

Remember always to follow proper safety procedures when handling firearms, and wear safety glasses.

Step 1: Ensure the Firearm Is Unloaded.

Make sure the firearm is unloaded, and ready to be worked on.

Open the action, and always perform this kind of work with the action always open.

Step 2: Loosen the Choke

Use a choke screw to loosen the choke until it is able to unscrewed by hand.

Step 3: Remove the Old Choke

Use your hand to unscrew the choke the rest of the way, and pull out.

Step 4: Screw in New One

Insert the new choke, and hand tighten as far as you can.

Then use the choke key to continue to insert.

Step 5: Tighten the Choke

Tighten the choke until it can no longer turn with the choke key.

You are now complete, enjoy shooting.
