Charging Lock for Phone Adapter and Charger

I created a locking device for my phone charger to secure it to the outlet, this keeps your adapter and charging cable secure, preventing my siblings from taking it. After going through numerous chargers this past year, I decided it was time to make a change.

Materials Used:

3d Printer
PLA filament
2 screws to hold the plate to the outlet wall

Step 1: Dimension Your Wall Outlet/adapter/phone Charging Cable

I used a ruler to measure the dimensions of the wall outlet plate, the wall charging adapter, and the diameter of my phone cable. Specifically, I measured the height and length of the wall outlet, the size of the socket opening, and the dimensions (length, width, and height) of the adapter. Additionally, I checked the alignment and size of the screw holes on the wall to ensure everything would fit properly.

Step 2: Use a CAD Software to Design Your Part

To design your phone charging locking device, you need to use a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. The CAD software you would be able to dimension your part to whatever size your phone charger is. You can adjust your dimensions easily with any CAD software. You can dimension everything accurately on CAD. Once you get the hang of using any CAD software other software will be fairly easy for you to use.

Step 3: Cura to Slice Your Design

Cura is essential for preparing your 3D model for printing. Using Cura you can adjust how fast or slow you want to 3d print you model what print speed you are looking for, the height of your model, which origin you would like to print your model and you also can adjust your temperature.

Step 4: Screws for Your Plate

Depending on how your wall outlet is set up you are either going to need two screws and one screw. I used a screw that would be very hard to find, that is not just a flat head screw they got easily get out of the wall outlet.
