Introduction: Cheap Simple Waterproof Phone Protector

About: I keep parts from just about anything that is broken and I use them to build other things for fun!

Materials:
1. Baggie (Snap or zip seal, preferably name brand)
2. Bar of soap (Any brand, I used Dove)
3. Device to protect

Step 1: Select a Baggie.

-Try to choose one that is just large enough for your device to fit into.
-Bags with the zip type seal are easier to use but do not seal all the way unless it is the kind in which the zipper comes off the seal and sits next to it.
-Manual seals are more reliable but are also tedious to use.
-Name brands are generally better than generic versions.

Step 2: Seal the Device and Get It Wet!

Prepare for the next step!
-Place the device in the bag and make sure it fits.
-It is common for me to place the device in a portrait position relative to the bottom of the bag, and in one of the lower corners, but try what works best for you.
-Try not to use a bag with a lot of extra space unless you are also going to place a charging cord inside to keep it safe as well.
Hint: you can even cut a small hole in the bag, if it is a thicker bag, and feed the cord through it. Don't forget to seal it with something such as silicon, hot glue, or epoxy. Now you can charge your device without having to take it out of the bag in a dangerous environment such as on a boat!

Step 3: Apply the Soap and Rinse!

-Rub the bar of soap against the bag where the screen will normally be, or all over if you prefer.
-Rub it in with your fingers untill it leathers slightly and rinse.
-You will notice how the friction of the bag has changed when you move your fingers across it.
-Repeat this step until the water beading is reduced to a satisfactory amount.
-This step also prevents the bag from fogging as a bonus!

Step 4: Congratulations!

You just made an inexpensive, truly waterproof, protective seal for your device using everyday household materials! This will even work with iPads! (Gallon freezer bags will hold them nicely!)
