Introduction: Cheap and Easy Ipod Dock!
Here is a easy way to make a strong, hardy dock out of the box, and some more parts that came with a Ipod touch/ Iphone.
*If you happen to do this and screw up our Iphone, Ipod, Itouch, or and other I products I am not responsible.*
Step 1: First! Gather These Materials.
No pictures.
- A very very sharp razor blade. *Careful if you cut your self or hurt anyone, don't blame me*
- JB weld *Both kinds, the blue and red, *THIS STUFF IS VERY VERY STRONG IT FIXES ENGINES! IF YOU GET IT SOMEWHERE WASH IT OFF ASAP!*
- Iphone Ipod Itouch box.
-That one white piece for the dock.
- Steady hand.
- *No stupidity is required*
Step 2: First!
Cut out.
Step 3: Next, BE VERY CAREFUL!
BE VERY CAREFUL OR THIS JUST MIGHT SCREW YOUR HOLE PROJECT UP AND YOUR END OF THE WIRE!
Step 4: Let It Dry and Have Fun!
*Let it dry for about a day or two*

This is a great Instructable, but you need to add a main image of the final project to the intro step. Please do that and leave me a message when you have so that we can publish your work. Thanks!

i made one of theese and it has a dock for an ipod callic and one for the shuffle. I am going to integrate a usb splitter so that I will only have one wire to plug in for both ipods =D
and thus also works with a good amount of hot glue, not only JB weld.

It worked fine actually. I took the 2 usb ports from an old computer I had, and wired them to the back end of a standard usb cable. then just plugged in the shuffle and normal dock to that and it worked fine. I would post a pic but I sold both ipods and disassembled the dock. to get the shuffle charger out.

USB splitter? lol

I did mine with hot glue. Seems to be holding up fine. Plus in the event that you find something cooler to make a dock out of you can cut the parts out with ease. This one was a great idea though.

Yeah but if you want to stay forever you would Use JB weld, very strong...stronger than glue lol they use it to repair engines :P

Im going to make this however Im going to wire an lcd to the bottom of the box most likely as well as speakers on the side, I have a ipod pin out connected that displays information, everything should work perfectly, also the lcd displays your last 25 facebook notifications as well as the weather in the corner and what station you are listening to on rss radio, the only piece im missing is a wireless usb transmitter, but ill make due without one

this is nice but it will only work on the newer ipods, the ones that dont have clasps on their connectors.

Seriously cool. I've been staring a the box and that little plastic thing trying to figure out how to do this.
I never thought about cutting a hole in the box. For some reason I just can't destroy boxes from Apple products. I have a small collection I just can't part with. They're so cool in their own way. Still this is VERY tempting. Yours looks really nice.
Maybe I'll use the plastic thing and use something else for the rest of it.
Great job.
I made a portable dock form a paperclip. Check it out if your interested.
